James M. Ouimet
Project Executive
Mr. Ouimet began his insurance career in 1976 as a Sales Representative
with Metropolitan Life. A pioneer in Worksite Marketing, Jim was
instrumental in the development of Metropolitan Life’s Metromatic
payroll deduction program in the early 80’s which is the
forerunner of today’s Worksite Marketing. He has extensive
Benefits Marketing experience and has deep knowledge of the benefits
segment of the insurance industry.
Mr. Ouimet also served as Vice President of Broker Sales for Blue
Cross Blue Shield of Kentucky and as President and CEO of Kentucky
Home Mutual, a company he refocused as a specialty Worksite/Benefits
Marketing organization. In 1995, Mr. Ouimet founded the James Consulting
Group, LLC, an insurance industry sales and marketing consultancy
focused primarily on voluntary benefits.
He has written numerous articles on Benefits Marketing and has
been published in a number of industry magazines including Best’s
Review, Broker World, Life Insurance Selling, Agent, Benefits Business
and Employee Benefit Advisor. He has also authored a book on the
discipline of selling entitled The True Basics of Successful Selling.
Mr. Ouimet is co-founder and part owner of the Benefits Marketing
Association. He served as the organization’s full-time president
during its first three years, helping to establish the association
and drive its early growth. In August 2000, Mr. Ouimet was elected
to The International Worksite Marketing Hall of Fame. Mr. Ouimet
is a cum laude graduate of Dominican College and received his MBA
from the University of Notre Dame.
